Local Immigration Partnership (LIP)

East Central Saskatchewan Immigration Partnership

In September of 2021, a huge step forward was taken towards creating more welcoming and inclusive communities throughout East Central Saskatchewan by starting a local immigration partnership which is known as East Central Saskatchewan Immigration Partnership (ECSIP).

The ECSIP is a community collaboration that acts as an incubator for ideas, identifying newcomer needs and mobilizing the appropriate community resources to meet those needs.

The ECSIP builds on existing strengths in the community to facilitate the full participation of newcomers in the region.

Local Immigration Partnerships are Community Initiatives that:

  • Promotes the settlement and integration of newcomers;
  • Builds on the community’s strengths;
  • Supports community-level research;
  • Promotes linkages between sectors;
  • Engages with a diversity of stakeholders;
  • Enhances collaboration, coordination and strategic planning at the community level; and
  • Fosters a more welcoming community where immigrants are fully engaged and integrated.

As per our mandate, we do not provide direct service to clients. We aim to partner with other organizations to share the perspective of newcomers, and promote the characteristic of a welcoming community through collaboration, partnership and education.

Have questions or comments? Please

If you are ready to advocate for newcomers and help create welcoming and inclusive communities by being a member of the LIP Advisory Council, please email Jummai Dede Umar at jumar@ecnwc.ca.
