Needs and Assets Assessment and Referral Services (NAARS)

Newcomers to Canada often arrive with limited knowledge of the country's cultural, social, and linguistic norms, which can create barriers to successful settlement and integration. Navigating unfamiliar systems and understanding the range of available supports can be overwhelming, making it difficult for newcomers to identify and access the services that best meet their needs.

Needs and Assets Assessment and Referral Services (NAARS) support eligible clients by conducting a comprehensive assessment of their settlement needs, strengths, and assets, including their knowledge, skills, abilities, life experiences, language proficiency, education, and employment background. This client-centred assessment serves as the foundation for developing a personalized settlement plan that helps guide their integration journey in Canada.

As part of the service, clients receive tailored referrals to settlement and community-based programs and resources that align with their identified needs and goals. To ensure continued progress and responsiveness to changing circumstances, eligible clients participate in a follow-up assessment three to six months after the initial assessment. This follow-up provides an opportunity to review progress, address emerging needs, and update referrals and settlement plans as appropriate..
